Enjoy A Round Of Golf On Your Holiday In Tenerife

If you would like to enjoy a golfing holiday in Tenerife, then you have selected this Canary Island wisely. With average annual temperatures of 23 degrees centigrade, and with the weather normally sunny throughout the year, you will undoubtedly enjoy Tenerife and its many golf courses it has to offer.

Whether you are in the north, or south of Tenerife, there will be golf course to suit all levels from the novice through to the professional. With courses designed by golfers such as the late Severiano Ballesteros, you are guaranteed to find first class courses upon which Tenerife plays host to prestigious tournaments throughout the year, including the PGA Canarias Spanish Open, the Tenerife Ladies Open, and the PGA Ladies European Tour [with the first round being held in Tenerife].  image of golf in Tenerife

Below is a list of the golf courses you can experience whilst on your holiday in Tenerife.

Buenavista Golf : Designed by Seve Ballesteros, this course is close to the sea and is flanked by spectacular cliffs in the resort of Buenavista del Norte. After 18 holes you will be greeted by tremendous views of the entire course from the Club House.

Real Club de Golf de Tenerife is in the resort of Tacoronte this is the second oldest golf course in Spain. You will encounter undulating fairways, dry stream beds, ravines and a huge variety of trees which provide welcome shade whilst you take in the views of Mount Teide.

Golf de Sur is located in the resort of San Miguel de Abona and was designed by Pepe Gancedo and Manuel Pinero. It is peppered with cacti, palm trees and lots of indigenous flowers and has a total of 27 holes some of which have black sand bunkers.

Amarilla Golf is also located in the resort of San Miguel de Abona. The landscaping for the golf course was carried out by Donald Steel, and overlooks the sea and you will be presented with palm trees, Canary pines, ravines, subtropical gardens and wonderful views of Mount Teide.

Los Palos in Arona is a 9 hole, par 27 course and is perfect for the beginner – although you will still encounter water obstacles such as lakes and streams. Los Palos was designed by Jose Maria Olazabal’s company and has a wonderful terrace which overlooks the entire course.

Golf Las Americas is also located in Arona in the popular resort of Playa de las Americas, but has 18 holes. You will come across many obstacles on this course such as lakes, water channels and gullies, but you will be rewarded with superb views of the neighbouring island of La Gomera.

Golf Costa Adeje is in the popular resort of Costa Adeje and was designed by Pepe Gancedo and has a total of 27 holes on wide greens. Around the course you will have views of the banana plantations as well as the Canary Island of La Gomera – all whilst negotiating obstacles such as gorges and lakes.

Abama is in the peaceful resort of Guia de Isora and has 18 holes. The course itself forms part of the 5 star Abama Golf & Spa Resort and is set amidst amazing gardens with over 90,000 palm trees, waterfalls and 22 lakes. Take in the views of the neighbouring Canary Island of La Gomera and take the opportunity to improve your swing on the practice green.

Whether you are a complete novice, wanting to improve your skills, or are a more proficient player, then you will be spoilt for choice from the selection of golf courses available on your Tenerife holidays.
