Tenerife is the largest of all the Canary Islands, and is a beautiful paradise destination for travellers. The island is diverse and boasts stunning beaches, lush forests, and a thriving nightlife. Depending on the environment you want, there are several great destinations on Tenerife to stay. The best cities to find hotels include Los Cristianos, Las Americas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Each location offers a variety of hotels and a unique perspective on the island. Here is a brief guide to Tenerife:

Los Cristianos: This resort destination on the south of the island is perhaps the best holiday destination for those who want to lay back and put their feet up for the duration of the stay. Gorgeous sandy beaches, amazing resorts with plentiful amenities, and year round sunny weather make this a top destination for families with children, and laid back adults who want to avoid the centre of Tenerife’s clubbing scene. You’ll find plenty of local restaurants offering up traditional fares, as well as international cuisine for travellers from abroad. Shopping options are also plentiful, and the whole area is easily reached by frequent flights to Tenerife South, the nearest airport. Some of the most popular hotels in this area include the Reveron Hotels and the Apartments Agaumar.

Las Americas: This area of Tenerife is found directly next to Los Cristianos, on the South of the island. While the areas both boast stunning beaches, plentiful accommodations, and cater to international travellers, Las Americas has a distinct difference: the nightlife. Many of the visitors to this area come for the high concentration of clubs and bars that stay open until the early hours of morning. The demographic for this area is more geared toward the 18-30 range, although there are still plenty of families and older adults who enjoy their time in Las Americas immensely. Popular hotels in the area include Hotel Esmeralda Playa, the Mare Nostrum Resort and the Mediterranean Palace.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife: This is the capital of Tenerife, and is the centre of history and culture on the island. You are more likely to get a traditional look at local life in this area, with more residential neighbourhoods and typical markets as opposed to tourist resorts. With plentiful museums, local markets, and a friendly local population, there is plenty to do and see in this urban area. There are plenty of great hotels in the city as well, and many can be cheaper than the luxury resorts found in the more touristy areas to the south. The most popular include the Gran Melia Palacio de Isora, Résidence Maeva Marazul del Sur and the NH Tenerife.
